Worth a trundle to Barafundle – Reviewed 24 August 2012

If you only do one coastal path in Wales, the 15 minute walk to Barafundle Bay is worth doing. Set off from Stackpole Quay – there is parking available – pay and display – operated by the National Trust, as is the cafe and ice-cream stall. Go past these if you can and follow the path towards the sea. A wide grassy path leads along the cliff top between wide paddocks of grass and wildflowers. Lovely views all the way along the path towards the steep cliffs which fall to the sea. Stone steps then descend to the ‘secret’ sandy Barafundle bay. There is no road here, no development – just a secluded sandy beach about .5 miles wide with dramatic rocky cliffs at either end. There are plenty of birds cirlcing, gliding and nesting on the cliffs. Visited August 2012.
