Brilliant introduction to Prague – Reviewed 24 November 2012

We found this recommended by Czechs and although we could not read their comments they rated it as excellent . . . and it was near our apartment close to the opera house.
Beef is the main offering and is prepared in various ways although there are also chicken and fish dishes. We chose the option of selecting any three dishes from each group for just under 600Kroner (23.50 Euros) each. We could have shared a meal as the three courses would have been plenty for two people. First course is an interesting choice of appetizers – and there was a salad option with fruit and nuts which was appealing. I had Cestr steak tartare – topside mince with capers, onion and cream. I was shocked when this arrived at the table raw but the flavour was lovely. For second course I had a slow roasted beef ‘shoulder clod’ with creamy mashed potato, both brought to the table in small copper pans. The meat was melt-in-the-mouth tender. My husband had another vegetarian option – the roasted and grilled eggplant in horseradish sauce – which was also very good. For the ‘main’ course I chose fillet mignon with a Perigord sauce and lightly cooked spinach. The meat was perfectly cooked and delicious.
The staff were friendly and helpful and despite the busy atmosphere, the service was fast.
We will recommend this restaurant to anyone coming to Prague. Visited November 2012.
