Netherfield Road, NETHERFIELD

Battle TN33 9QD, England

Great food, lovely atmosphere – Reviewed 8 January 2013

This quaint white-washed pub (about 3 miles from Battle) is better described as a restaurant which serves alcohol. The location is lovely, on a spur overlooking rolling green fields and forests across the valleys either side. We went on a Sunday with no booking and were lucky to get the last available table.
Our party had the chicken tikka, the Sussex smokie (smoked haddock in a cheese sauce) and brie and beetroot tart. All were well cooked and beautifully presented. We were given a large plate of fresh vegetables that were steamed al dente and delicious. We would have loved to stay for the gooseberry crumble but we were short of time to return to Battle to see the Abbey. Visited January 2013.
