Schlosshotel Roemischer Kaiser
Annagasse 16, Vienna 1010, Austria
It’s not a Schloss but it is a comfortable, central hotel – Reviewed 23 November 2012
Advertised as a Schloss Hotel, here was the opportunity to stay in a castle for one week and we decided to burn the budget and do it. It was not a castle at all but a small boutique hotel which was clean and central to Vienna’s shopping and tourist attractions. It is expensive but it is quaint – in a narrow cobbled street just off one of the main shopping street and within a short walk of some of the opera houses and concert halls. There are tram stops nearby and underground stations so getting around is easy.
There are some large rooms in the hotel but ours was small and after staying in apartments during four months of travels it was cramping to have to take turns to move around the room.
However, the beds are comfortable and clean and the rooms are quiet as the double windows are soundproof and there is no traffic in the cobbled central city. The rooms are nicely decorated with baroque interior decorations and curtains.
Breakfasts are served in a breakfast room – fresh fruit and juices, cereals including whole cereals such as muesli, cheese and sliced meats, eggs and bacon in a warmer (or cooked to order), sliced bread and rolls, a toaster, jams and a different range of cakes each morning.
The staff are professional, friendly and helpful. A good place to stay for a night or two and be close to the city’s cultural heart. Stayed, travelled as a couple.
