The heavenly Jerusalem – Reviewed 22 September 2012

This stunning chapel was built for royalty to preserve what was said to be Christ’s crown of thorns and relics of the Passion. The design was relatively small in size but expansive in artistry and no expense was spared to create a building designed to transport occupants to the ‘heavenly Jerusalem’. Instead of walls, stained glass windows stretch skyward, each illustrating stories from a book of the Bible. The chapel is seen to its best advantage in the morning as easterly sun streams through the sanctuary windows. There is also a spectacular rose window at the western end. Visited September 2012
